The Cayman Islands Public Library service is proud to announce the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge. This programe seeks to develop lifelong readers and encourages all participants to enjoy the set books we have selected for reading over the summer.

This year’s challenge is the exciting theme of Extraordinary Characters. There are so many amazing books about Extraordinary Characters, from Peter Pan and Frodo Baggins all through to the ever popular Marvel Comics characters.

Extraordinary Characters lead by example and many of them are heroes that fight for good and protect us from the bad. There are many fictional characters to admire and look up to, but even in our daily lives, we mere mortals, have the same qualities. We see this in the people around us - our parents, brothers, sisters, friends, and even within us! We can all learn to be extraordinary in our own way, as we can all act responsible, be true to ourselves, accept how others look and stand proud in whom we are.

This summer I hope that you discover the Extraordinary Character in yourself, as you delve into the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge!
